I'm a comic book writer and podcaster based out of Iowa looking to take the next step with my creative projects. I founded Keymaster Collective to officially bring my comics, podcasts, and artistic collaborations together under one name.
I started my podcast career in 2020 as a pandemic-project with my best friend and frequent collaborator, Jia'son Bryant. Over the following years, I went on to start 2 new podcasts of my own. Giant Sized Violence was started to create a platform to discuss one of my favorite special-interests, Tokusatsu Comics. As I learned more about myself and came to terms with my trans identity over the next 2 years, I came to realize that there wasn't a podcast out there dedicated to trans representation in comics, and trans creators in the industry. Thus, Transcending Comics was born. Through my podcasts, I've been able to connect talented individuals with one another, while also providing a platform for creators to promote their projects.
As Jia'son and I learned more about the process of creating a comics through our own studies and conversations with professional in the industry, we decided it was time to create our own comic book, "When We Transform." This passion project is the culmination of years of sharing story ideas, and discussing how we'd like to explore the tropes of the shows and movies that inspired us growing up. We found incredibly talented artists online like our penciller Gabriel Fassina, colorist Carlos Amorim, and letterer Amal Desai, and together we were finally able to bring our ideas to life! We're launching our first issue via Kickstarter later this year, and we'll continue the series as a web-comic with annual physical releases going forward.
If you would like to know more about my story, I released a one-of-a-kind podcast in 2023 as a means of coming out to the audience of Giant Sized Violence. While I've been blessed with the opportunity to interview some of my favorite creators on my podcasts, I'll confess that this episode is the creative project I'm the most proud of. It tells the story about how the most significant night of my life shaped my future, and how the passing of my childhood heroes inspired me to become the hero of my own story.
